War
GifMike: What’s it good for really.
Locke: The next great war shall begin with China. It will be over satallite security and it won’t be their fault, but we will think it is.
GifMike: lol
Demosthenes: And who will win?
Locke: Not a one of us…mark my words…
GifMike: Your a visionairy.
Locke: No just practical and playing the odds. Technology has come to a strange crossroads and with the advent of private space travel I fear that it will clash horribly with our inability to cope.
Demosthenes: You seem to be implying that private companies being allowed to break orbit will have some negative influence over our satallites?
Locke: Yes, that is how the war will start. Our technology in space hasn’t kept up with it’s partners on the ground. We haven’t the ability to defend our satallites from what could come from the surface. Right now what has staved of the danger was the inconvenience and expense of easy space travel. You could bring down a satallite fairly cheaply with something as small as a dinner plate. With all the trash orbiting our planet we don’t have the capability to track and destroy something that small. Nor do we have the resources to respond to their losses and replace them fast enough.
Demosthenes: I’m not sure that’s true, the government doesn’t share with you their preperations for such a contingancy. Space has been well parceled out and guarded for a long time. Countries have divvyed up their airspace fairly exactly, and I believe every single piece of space trash is monitored and accounted for.
Locke: True, but it will be the loss of the first few key satallites that severely hinder our monitoring of said trash. And as soon as they start dropping there will be a rush to restore solid ground communications to bypass our reliance on satallite communications. And since Chinas space program has just now surpassed all other countries in the world, they will be blamed. And during the insuing confusion and panic…Boom!…Mark my words.
GifMike: Fine their marked.
Demosthenes: With red crayon.
GifMike: Boom!
to be continued…
